Galaxy and Layar used to stalk Brad Pitt

I don’t want to type too much here because I don’t think anything should be added to – or taken away from – what Thomas Ricker wrote over at Engadget. I think that this was filmed in his city and that he knows what’s being said.

I know Dutch fluently and pretty much all he talks about is this layer on Layar thats called BN'er Verkenner which ios basically a layer for looking up famous Dutch people and Brad Pitt just so happened to be on the list, he was showing off the houses of a few famous dutch people until he went to Brad Pitt's house. He looked like he was ready to go outside and kill someone, i thought he would.

Thanks, Bart and Acsteffy87

A Dutch TV channel found out that Pitt rented or bought the house a few years back (Dutch clip can be found here: http://bit.ly/29PE0Z). Guess that is how it became public and ended up in the list that was used for the content-layer.

They found Brad Pitt because his address is in a Dutch application which shows the houses of famous Dutch people. The apartment of Brad Pitt in Amsterdam is listed in the application too. It's NOT based on his GPS-data from Twitter.

Related comment from Digg: "Though my dutch isn't very good, from other people's comments on the site it seems the location is based around Twitter posting location information along with Brad Pitt's messages - this is an option on Twitter which he obviously chose to use. The app on the mobile phone scrapes the information and presents it in an augmented reality fashion. There is nothing new and scary here except an innovative use of data mashup. Brad Pitt's location is "known" because he chose to publish it. (in the event of a publically known address, that information is also already public). Your own location is of course known to you too. The phone relates the two and presents you a route from one to the other."

HA! He didn't look too happy.
