Tubaloo beta invites

tubaloo

If you don’t know what Tubaloo is about, please read my article about PhoneDog, Tubaloo: Android VoIP via 3G. That post provides a little bit of context regarding the need for VoIP solutions around the world. Then, check out A look at Tubaloo for Android.

The short and skinny of it is that Tubaloo facilitates VoIP over 3G and intelligently routes your call based on rules and preferences you set up. As you can imagine, the implications are pretty significant – especially in Calling Party Pays markets.

Tubaloo goes into public beta as of today, and I’ve got 100 invitations. Just go to Tubaloo’s mobile site at http://m.tubaloo.com/, and enter the code, droidog (just one ‘d’ in the middle). Agree to the terms and download the apk. You’ll need to allow installations from unknown sources.

Download it, try it out, and please leave a comment here about your experience. More importantly, email beta@tubaloo.net. What do you like about it? What could be improved? Have you found a bug that you can recreate? Please list the steps in your email.

Thanks, all. Your help is appreciated and contributes to the quality of the end product.

Everything is great, but two problems. How do u receive calls and when u press the close button only the the screen turns off not the phone call, u need to press menu and end call. Thanks john!

You have to press the return arrow key aka the back button to end the call. the normal red hang up button doesn't work

Like stated above...the dialer is completely hijacked by Tubaloo, but when you click on the Message shortcut it gives you the option to use tubaloo or the reg. android message box. tubaloo should give you the choice.

it broke my twidroid pro app and I am going to wipe my phone to hopefully get it working again. Weird as to why it done that... But that the pains of beta apps. Even after I unistall twidroid pro and reinstall it i still get an automatic force close, as well as it intially ate my twidroid pro icon when i first installed it... very weird..

Thanks for the link. So far I don't like it because it completely hijacks your outgoing calls. It should work more like Google Voice: Always, Never or Ask. I'll play around with it more tomorrow.

breon, the application really allow you to select whether you call through Tubaloo or your carrier network. The core behind the application that navigates is the Minus preferences with network or rules exception. The 'call preferences' in the application preferences affect all the calls in terms of use or not, always with respect to the availability of the network and the wifi-3G preferences. On the other hand, the rule exception applies to a particular destination (i.e. +1305 for Miami) or phone number (+1.305.555.5555) in terms of 'call this destination always via Tubaloo or never via Tubaloo.

thats what the rules are for. Google voice allows you to do it during the calls..tubaloo before the call..still being able to use it with no sim card...and potentially just only having a data plan on a phone..that sounds amazing

Apparently your not Noah...i apologize. Anyways hey john I have two phone lines so what i did was, i called the g1 phone line which i downloaded tubaloo on and then i used the g1 to call my secondary phone line...and instead of hearing that creepy "hold" music it actually rang. The only thing is it says unknown caller...I plan on checking out those rules later on though..anyways thanks for making those invites available. laterr

Hey Noah. I downloaded the app on my G1..which is currently connected to my WI-FI however every time i try to make a call..i just hear this creepy "hold" music and then the call disconnects. I'm not sure if there's something in the settings that i need to change or if i need to enter my number+ country code. I am in the US so any tips would be sweet.
