Android 2.0: Eclair, running on G1s
I was recently told, in no uncertain terms, that Eclair would not fit within the confines of our beloved G1′s ROM. That was apparently wrong. These rumors have got to stop. Not only was the lass in the first vid below able to pull 2.0 from the SDK and drop it into the ol’ brick, theses videos demonstrate a quickly cooked and admittedly half-baked 2.0 ROM (pulled from SDK) by Akirah from xda developers. Imagine what will be available after a few months of optimization. I’ll be holding on to my G1 for now, thank you very much.

I think it’s rather interesting that that kid “nnesto21″ used to report that I was “stealing” things from people…and now he seems to be the source of every story on DroidDog; curious, isn’t it?
It’s because “nnesto21″ (A.K.A. – Nestor Pastora) spends his free-time TROLLING developer Twitter feeds and if anything that is slightly amusing draws his attention; he’s right back here to offer “the news”. No hard work put in to show for it.

Will The Offical 2.0 Update come to the G1 without Rooting
no. The distributed version is too big to be installed at present. There will be 2.0 roms developed that will allow you squeeze a leaner version onto your phone, but youll need root for the custom roms.
Its easy to do though, and the rom development so far has been great. Check out http://www.androidspin.com for an overview of roms, FAQ, wiki etc..
