Handy cost of ownership table: Droid, Hero, and myTouch
Check out this contract term cost caparison between Droid, Sprint’s Hero and the myTouch 3G from Android Central. Of course this doesn’t take into account the value of your time, productivity, or frustration, but it’s a handy tool for careful shoppers.

Isnt this totally wrong, well for the droid. If you go onto verizon wireless’s website and go under plans > Individual, they have the 69.99 for 450 whenever minutes, unlimited data/messaging. So theres no need for those extra 5 dollars.

On the cheapest plan, the Any Mobile deal from Sprint really can change things for a lot of people since mostly everyone under their 30s primary calls mobile phones. 450 anytime minutes seem like a lot more.

@ackhun
You can’t select any smartphone (like the Imagio) under the Verizon “Connect” plans. So you have to go Basic + Email + Text for $74.98

This information is 100% inaccurate. As of 10/25 Tmobile doesn’t even HAVE these plans anymore. ALL T-Mobile plans are significantly cheaper than any Sprint or Verizon plan. Unlimited EVERYTHING including talk, messaging and data is only $79.99. All other variants of the plan are only cheaper, but nothing more expensive.
This data is a completely inaccurate reflection of true pricing and information on today’s actual market in regards to T-Mobile. Just wanted to let you guys know so that other won’t rely on this information to make a poor decision.

My company used Verizon so I emailed our rep and asked about the contract price for 450minutes and unlimited everything else. Company employees get an 18% discount on all monthly access fees, the price he gave me was $82 a month AFTER the discount. Which seems a little high to me but he did mention a required data package, which I suspect may be more than the ones currently listed on Verizons website?

I have a myTouch and pay $39.99/month for 600 anytime minutes (free nights and weekends) and $34.99/month for unlimited data and messaging. Also I’m fairly certain T-Mobile has a voice plan for $29.99 with 300 anytime minutes, although I suppose it might not be available when you get a myTouch.

Not to mention on Verizon you’ll get nickle and dimed for everything (like navigation) that’s included with Sprint.

I would say that the math on the Verizon Unlimited is wrong. It should be $3318.76. Let’s get the math right.

IMO Verizon is just way to expensive, not that even well known as a that great of a carrier except their commercials to give those prices out.. Come on Verizon, lets ditch the lame env’s and the plasticy QWERTY cheap phones and then you can put those prices cause your actually offering real handsets.

I would ditch my HTC Hero for the Droid, if the prices were the same monthly as my sprint individual plan.. But nope, because everyone knows the droid is already ugly. They couldve fixed the back, it looks like they didnt know which pieces went with eachother, and just slapped it on and called it “innovation”

If you purchase the Hero through BestBuy as a rewards zone member by Nov 2nd you can get it for 129.99.

Actually Verizons unlimited would be more than what is listed because you have to add a smart phone data plan on as well as visual voice mail and navigation. T-mobile makes you add an Android data pack as well.
