Sprint Hero comes early for certain folk

I know a little birdy. It’s the kind of birdy that generally gets very good information. When info is sketchy, the birdy says so. Well, this little snip comes from two independent sources of said birdy, and birdy has sources in all the right places.

Members of Best Buy’s Rewards Zone might want to ramble into their local branch this Friday, the ninth of October. Because the word is that you’ll be able to get yourself a CDMA Hero before anyone else.

I challenge the entire blogging world to use the word “birdy” more in one day than I have in this post.

Posting this from my hero that I picked up from best buy this morning! Awesome phone.

Got mine at the Sprint store today (Friday, 10/9). Walked in and asked to see the Hero, csr said not avail till the 11th. I said, sounding dissapointed, Oh, I heard it was available starting at 7 last night. Let me check, he says - goes to the back and comes out with a demo. I play with it a little, it's snappy. I ask if they waive activation like on the website. No. I tell him that if there's any way he can figure out how to waive activation (2 phones purchased), I'd take em right then. Checks with manager, tells me that if I have an AOL email, he can waive activation, and give 10% discount on billing. I have one because I signed up before going for this very purpose. I ported from tmo and got $200 off future bills, and porting was complete before I even got home. About to power up device...

it is absolutely true that this phone comes out tom. Oct 9th at Best Buy Mobiles for ANY reward zone members, doesn't matter if the membership is gold, or silver, or whatever, it will at least be available at 2 different best buy mobiles in the north west suburbs of chicago. i went in one and talked to a guy that opened up the case and showed me the 23 packages that arrived today and that they will be selling tom. and i called another best buy mobile (where i have my deposit) and they confirmed that we can get em as early as 10am tom. boo ya! ill be there at 9:55am! ps. even after i called and spoke to one associate about it, i got a general call from another associate minutes later to tell me "anyone who has pre-ordered them already, and has best buy rewards zone card, come on in and get em tom." SA-WEET!

The price at BestBuy is $179.99 out the door. They don't do Mail-In rebates, only instant!

Sadly, not all best buys will be carrying Sprint products (including the hero). The two in my city both said they carry Verizon, ATT, and T-mobile but not sprint and said the closest store with the Hero is in another state a couple hundred miles away. >.<

the phone is being sold today !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! call sprint telesales !!! i just ordered mined, and it arrives tomorrow no BS !!

Yup, this is legit. And as far as I know, that $380 price point is inaccurate. "$429.99 - $150.00 (two-year activation) - $100.00 (mail-in rebate) = $179.99 (final price)." according to sprint.com/hero.

I wish I had an upgrade soon, I'd love to get the HTC Hero. Unfortunately I have to wait for my upgrade date, it sucks majorly because I want to sell my pre and get rid of my instinct.

the outright price (no contract) of the hero200 is somewhere around 380.00 or something around there. I will see if i can find what blog had it posted. you should be able to sell the pre if you really want and just by it contract free.
