Your Hero Questions Answered, Part 4

Here is my 937th instalment of the DroidDog Hero series. Seriously though, I shipped the phone off today so if I missed a question that requires a video answer, it just isn’t happening. My speaking volume jumps up and down a bit depending on what time of day or night a given segment was recorded, so you’ll have excuse the Billy Mays effect.

EDIT: Why did I think you needed root to run Cose Everything, Advanced Task Manager, etc.? That is wrong.

Thanks for taking the time to do these videos. I’ve had this phone since Oct 9th and have been following this site for much longer. I think your analysis is spot on and appreciate the time you put into these videos. They are very well done.

Thanks John for all the videos!

I did ask a question last time about if a GSM Hero phone charger would charge a Sprint Hero spare battery. (like would the dimensions fit in a GSM Spare battery charger)

    Thanks again

You mentioned in part B that you were required to pay something like $19.99 a month to use Yahoo mail on the phone. I set up my Yahoo mail account with the standard Android mail app without having to pay a cent.

Yahoo Mail is available to the Hero at no cost, the very same way it’s available on Blackberry.

You don’t need a 3rd party app for ringtones. Here’s what you need to do:

On your SD card, /media/audio/notifications is where you store files to use for app notifications. /media/audio/ringtones is where you store files to use as phone ringtones.

If these folders aren’t there, just create them.
