100k Droids sold in opening weekend?

From what I’ve read, the number-gathering techniques aren’t exactly scientific, but Verizon is publicly estimating they sold 100,000 Droids – because they had 200,000 and it seems like half of them are gone. With that kind of math, I’m wondering if anyone will notice me keeping a review unit. I mean, I complain about the keyboard, but it’s still – as I said before – a darn nice phone.

I haven’t tried searching Times Square yet, but I can tell you that Portland is plastered with Ads. The rest of the story is about iPhone. Go figure.

I would attribute the low number of sales to the fact that Verizon announced they would have 2 Android smartphones out in 2009 and more in 2010. I personally will buy an android phone...I just don't know if the Droid is the one for me. I'd like to see what else is coming. I have issues with the sideways keyboard and would like to see a straight-up keyboard---so I wait. I won't wait forever but I will wait for a while to see what else is coming, maybe like many other people.

I had saw from Aaron that the Droid didn't do well in sales compared to the iPhone. I honestly get tired of all the comparisons to the iPhone, it's not even that good of a smartphone, people just love all of the apps it has and all that it can do. We'll see how good the Droid does in a month's time.
