Sony Ericsson’s webSDK and the $4,000 challenge
On November 18th Web 2.0 EXPO in New York, Sony Ericsson announced their webSDK – an open source tool created in conjunction with PhoneGap community. With webSDK, devs can produce mobile apps with HTML, CSS and JavaScript – the latter of which can access the camera, GPS, accelerometer, and contacts.
Here’s where the money’s at: SE is holding a contest called The Web App Challenge to see who can come up with the best webSDK app for the X10 by December 31st. The winner gets $4,000 and a charter membership in the company’s Hero developer program. Read more at Sony Ericsson’s Developer World.

Two weeks ago Sony Ericsson asked Digital Dandelion to develop a mobile app from web based content using their new WebSDK and PhoneGap. The result was the Mavericks app for Android phones that we showed last week in New York at the Web 2.0 Expo. We have posted a blog that describes our process and that also contains some useful links. We hope it helps someone wine the contest too. http://digitaldandelion.net/blog/introducing_phonegap_and_the_sony_ericsson_websdk/
