Back up and restore everything with SwitchROM

Hey everyone,

Here’s a little tutorial on SwitchROM. It is basically just a script that backs up an entire ROM with apps and whatnot. It is really helpful if you are a person who likes to flash a lot of ROMs (like I am).

Enjoy (at your own risk) :)

Hi, if I only have 1 rom currently installed, I just want to back it up for now not add any other roms...Do I just do switchrom -s nameofrom and then just type reboot? Will it reboot to my current rom that I just stored since I don't have any other roms saved?

May I use this for backup my htc touch pro2's rom?

May I use this for backup my htc touch pro2's rom?

May I use this for backup my htc touch pro2's rom?

so is there a way to do this on my mytouch3g since it doesnt have a physical keyboard? a way to type in the console at all, i suppose?

Well I haven't really played around with BART too much, but they're pretty much the same thing. I just prefer SwitchROM because I find it to be a bit faster and less confusing. To each his own, though :)

haha sorry about that, I totally forgot to push "record" when I was shooting the "saving" segment...

Carlos, Thanks for the Vids, i installed the superdrom and now just backed it up with switchrom. i had a question on how to backup a rom but you answered it about the 6 min mark...thanks

Thanks for the tut on SwitchRom, Carlos....I've been contemplating whether or not to use this for a long time now...Is SwitchRom built into Amon Ra's recovery? I'm so used to CM's recovery now that I don't want to give it up...

so how do you save a rom?? u didn't explain that part but i assume you first flash a rom, then u go to amon ra's recovery an do the rest??? how do save a second rom??? u flash another rom then save it the same way???

Carlos... can you explain the difference between Switchrom and BART? I have Amon_RA's latest and typically use the BKMO "utility" menu through terminal to make full backups of the phone and ext3 partition for each ROM I use, and can switch back and forth as well.Just curious what the difference is and which is superior.

Great video, like the more tech oriented slant to DroidDog lately. Keep the rom reviews and tutorials coming!
