There has been a fair amount of talk about whether or not the Google Phone will actually be called Nexus One once it hits the shelves. The device very well may have several production names – bearing a different title for each carrier, distinct from the device name as sold direct by Google. Dragon and Passion are quite likely code names anyway, so I I wouldn’t be surprized if there are still a couple of names for this phone that we have yet to hear or to associate with some variant of Google’s unlocked verison.
One thing is for certain: Nexus One is an official name. Not only does it appear in FCC filings, but Google filed for Trademark on the moniker December 10th. See images from both stories below:
