It very well could be. No one knows yet. All we know is that Moto will be making a direct-to-customer device and sell it through google.com/phone. I just wouldn't count anything out as the new Google phone. Andy Rubin did say they were already making a more business friendly Nexus.

Those are some valid points. What I mean to say is I think Google would have Motorola make them a phone, in fact we now KNOW Motorola will be making them a phone, but I don't think it would be called the Nexus Two. If they were to release a phone called the Nexus Two, I think it would be manufactured by HTC.

Best scenario would be something like Google.com/phone gives customers the choice to buy a Nexus One unlocked or with a plan through multiple carriers. A Nexus Two the same way, which would just be a Nexus One with a physical keyboard. Then finally a Motorola manufactured phone (oh, say... the shadow?) that is a completely different device, looking and feeling, than the Nexus One.

That would be awesome.

Not for me. Every Motorola phone that my daughter and I have had, (4 of them) has been a piece of S*#!. None of them worked for more than a year and my favorite was the one that would just randomly shut itself off in the middle of a conversation/ Not drop the call, shut off! It didn't matter if it was running on the battery of plugged in (A/C or 12Volt adapter)

I'm a long time Motorola fan having owned 3 StarTacs, an MPx200, an MPx220, an MPx300, a V600, a Razr, and now the Droid. But mark my words.... Motorola is going to shoot it'self in the foot with Android. It's gonna try to ride the success of the Droid and release a billion variants that look like it until the public revolts like they did with the Razr.

"I personally don’t think Google would have HTC make the Nexus One and then turn to Motorola for the Nexus Two."

I do think exactly this. Google.com/Phone is more of an exclusive shop. They already said they would rely on different Phone makers and it just makes sense given the fact that Google has no interest in competing with them. They just want to have some control over the products Motorola et al produce and the shop is just the vehicle to achieve just this.
