New GSmart Android headed for budget market

Taiwanese manufacturer, Gigabyte, is adding an Android to its GSmart line of devices, which previously consisted of WinMo phones. Mobile-Review says the so far unnamed phone features 256 MB RAM/512 MB ROM, A 2.8″ QVGA TOUCH SCREEN, AGPS, Bluetooth 2.0, b/g Wi-Fi, G-Sensor, “trace ball,” 3.5mm audio jack, a 1500 mAh battery, 2.0 MP cam, and will ship with Android 1.6. All very meh, except the trace ball, which I am a bit curious about. Looks very affordable.

This is a good move. I think they should have been making low end Android phones that everyone can afford from the beginning.

Android 1.6 makes the phone definitely worth it if it's cheap enough. QVGA is kinda lame though.
