All US Androids to reach 2.1?

2.1-sBy far, the number one question I get about Android devices is, “when will my xxx get the x.x update?” And while I still don’t have information more specific than quarter on the most anticipated updates that I do know about, I can allay your 2.1 envy, if you have it, that is. Taylor Wimberly of Android and Me is reporting that all US Androids will receive the update – some OTA, and others via a PC tether – and most of them will happen within the next four months. Wimberly also hears that the G1 and myTouch will be the initial first gen phones to see the bump.

I can't wait for the G1 update, I've been anxious since I heard it would be here by the end of Feb, even un-rooted one of my G1's so I could receive the OTA…Still waiting…Impatiently…

Cool, this may be the way Google closes the problem with Android spintering in the U.S. Obviously these older 1st gen. handsets wont get every feature 2.1 offers like live wallpapers. Hopefully in the future Google can prevent handset manufacturers to bring out a new handset with an old version of Android and Google slows down releasing new versions of Android.
