Google’s Buzz brings social networking to Gmail, Android

If Orkut doesn’t cut it for you, and you’ve found Wave to be overly difficult to manage, Buzz might be the Google social solution for you. Google announced the new product, which integrates with preexisting Google apps that you know and love, this morning. I can’t offer any sort of personal testimony about the features or behavior of Buzz here because, as of the time of this writing, I am not one of the 1% of GMail users to find the Buzz tab on the left pane of my GMail web interface today.

I have seen a video about the new product (embedded below – another after the break) and I have to say that it looks fantastic. If Google has a shot at the world of social media, this is it – built upon already proven and successful projects, and incorporating sensible, practical functionality. Buzz will also be coming to Android and iPhone, via buzz.google.com, and will show up in new layers in Maps, in voice and icon shortcuts, and “Buzz on a Place Page.”

If you have access to Buzz, please let us know what you think of it in the comments.

I got Buzz today. Not sure what I think about it. So far, I like the Maps implementation better than in GMail.

I have Buzz, But as of right now it's lame because I'm the only person I know who has it.....

I suspect that any mobile user can use buzz, as I have (but I dont' have it in gmail yet)

This is good in a way, im tired of keeping up with 3 different social network sits. What can be better if all social network site unite in a way that we can update and see status updates for all networking sites in gmail. That is the dream

So i'm one of the chosen few i guess. I opened Gmail and there it was all set up and waiting for a comment from me with people already set up to follow me. Guess i'l see how it goes over the next few weeks and if it becomes as overwhelming as MotoBlur was.

I got buzz, no one else that i'm "following" (contacts i frequently talk with on gtalk) has it yet.I've used the mobile site before i got the tab on my gmail, so I assume anyone can use it as of now.I'm excited for it, because unlike facebook, i'm always on gmail.
