Rumor: HTC Desire heading to AT&T, and Legend to Sprint
Well, apparently no one can be trusted when it comes to company executives. If this rumor turns out to be true, then it looks like HTC’s two latest and greatest Android-based devices, both of which are rocking the new Sense UI, are coming over the pond after all. And, it looks like AT&T might be getting something more than just a Backflip. According to a source speaking with Boy Genius Report, the HTC Desire is heading over to AT&T, and for the most part it’s keeping its aesthetics in place. The source did say some color changes might be happening, but for the most part the device itself would be staying the same. And, yes, apparently Google is still planning on releasing a Nexus One that’s primed to function on AT&T’s 3G network, but, let’s be serious here . . . Who will want it? Considering the Desire is the same device with Sense on top of the OS, it looks like the Nexus One will be forgotten about in no time. Especially considering the source is saying the Desire will be out with the AT&T logo by May or June.
And, the HTC Legend is apparently making its way to Sprint. It’s going to take on a different name (the HTC Hero2, has a ring to it, right?), and it’s going to take on a bigger face-lift. This is probably due to the fact that, compared to the European HTC Hero of last year, Sprint’s version definitely got a redesign. The source hadn’t seen what the final product looked like. And, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the Source provided any kind of release date for the Legend. This is some pretty crazy news, so we’ll keep our eyes open if anything gets updated.

I currently own a hero, and the Legend is not really an upgrade to the 1st gen hero. There is no additional RAM, or ROM, and the processor is only marginally faster. Sprint should go for Desire-type phones, with 480 X 800+ resolution. While I'm all for more android devices on any carrier, Sprint really needs a phone that people will really want, and jump ship to get.
Actually the Nexus One has an extra mic for active noise cancellation on voice calls, which the Desire does not have. This is a very significant fact which many bloggers continue to get wrong, probably because they just link to other bloggers.
Desire going to At&t……..Wow that just crushed any possibility of me getting that phone………Legend going to sprint; ha no way Sprints going to turn a beautiful design into a mess…
if you goto this website it says that the desire will be for every carrier in the us so hopfuly thats true. and why not go to verizon its a droid eris on steroids. http://androidandme.com/2010/02/carriers/htc-de…
Why is t-mobile always behind the 8 ball on carrying the new android devices? First we heard that T-mobile will carry the Bravo, now it is being reported that AT&T and sprint will be the carrier. Will T-mobile ever make these new android devices available to thier customers first? Makes a person want to switch carries. Very dissapointing.
I agree, TMO has dropped the ball so many times on getting high-end Android devices, instead they gives us Cliqs, MT3Gs and Behold II's (which aren't even in contention with all other Android devices). The best TMO Android device was/is the G1. I don't count the N1 because it's sold as an unlocked Google device. I don't want to jump ship because all other carriers either suck or are just way too expensive, but damn TMO, put up a fight and please your Android consumers with better handsets.
AT&T better freaking not get the desire. that phone is too superior to be stuck on their crappy service. AT&T sucks and so they deserve phones that suck like the backflip. the backflip has to be the worst idea for a phone ever. if AT&T gets the desire then hell will freeze over by pure crazy and stupidness.
man i don't think htc legend should go to sprint, i just feel like someone else should get it
Please let the HTC Desire come to TMo, I need a knew phone.
