Devour now available

devourMotorola’s Devour is now available at Verizon stores and at their website for $149.99 with the activation of a new two year contract. The phone, which ships with Android 1.6, features a 3.1″, 320 x 480, HVGA screen; slide-out QWERTY; 3.0MP cam with video capture; optical trackpad; and MotoBlur. What do you think? Is $149 a good price for these budget specs? The full retail price is $479. I’m thinking it’s safe to say that these will be given away on contract before long, but that’s me.

Sales of Devour might get hurt with the announcement of N1 on Verizon! They might have to pull back on the contract price of this phone.

Why does any new Android phone ship with 1.6? Worthless.

So what it's a watered down droid. Where is the N1 or the HTC Incredible, after all that's what everyone really wants. VZW needs to get their act together b4 they lose current and potential customers

I got mine for $30 on Amazon. An accurate price would be $50 or even $100. Besides the smaller screen though, the specs really aren't "budget". The CPU is clocked 50 MHz above the Droid's, and they have equivalent RAM. The only other downside is that you've got to wait for an Android update, but I don't think that warrants considering the phone a throwaway. The cost is probably a little higher than it should be because of the frame, but it's obvious Verizon is jacking it up; even BestBuy was selling it for $100.That being said, and with all due respect, I find your comments a bit bigheaded. I really don't feel that your last sentence was necessary. Perhaps it slipped your mind that people could be reading your site that own the device, and surely would be discouraged having read this about their new phone. I'm not one of them, especially since I spent 20% of Verizon's price, but I'm certainly irked. Please consider your thoughts before putting them up for people to see. I doubt people come to this site to see their new phone berated. Thanks
