Good grief, Droid update postponed

delayedI think this will be my last Droid 2.1 update post. There have been so many false starts; so many bad rumors, that I just don’t think it’s worth mentioning after today. How many times have we read that this thing was just around the corner now? Ugh. It will come when it comes. Looks like a serious bug – possibly a security flaw – has the update, which was supposed to begin rolling out yesterday, on indefinite lock down. Well, for those who haven’t rooted their phones. I’m not saying you should or should not hack your Droid, but it does add up to early access to updated software.

What I continue to find funny is that these update rumors always omit 1 very important thing, confirmation from Verizon. At no point did Verizon confirm that an update was coming on the 18th. All anyone had was a supposed shot of an internal message stating that it would. Coupled with a support page going up on Verizons site you guys went gonzo posting it as if God himself had said it was so. I'm perfectly happy with my Droid and look forward to an update but I'm not going to go crazy worrying about when and if an update to 2.1 is coming. I wasn't promised any updates when I bought it and thus I don't expect any.

aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhhh.

aaaarrrrggggghhhhh. I don't want to root my phone just yet. I'd rather wait until this update drops, first. I wonder whats causing the delay.

google maps just got updated with muli tuch.

i think its still coming google maps just got updated with multi tuch

i would be so fukin pissed if i had a droid

not surprised about the delay at all but the ESE53 build they will be pushing is nice at least the the cooked roms i have used with this as a base are really nice and fast some of those are bugless beast, ultimatedroid, dominator, and smoked glass v6.0.1, but if anyone who maybe tired of waiting and wants to root their droids the easiest way to do so is through the dmupdater from droidmod.org it is real easy you just go to their site using your phones browser and download and install the dmupdater, once installed click on it and follow the directions and it will give you root, busybox, and if you want sprecovery 0.99.3b, but if you really want a great rom and you like what you see of the cyanogen roms that carlos has shown on the n1 then once the dmupdater has rooted your droid stop it before it installs their droidmod 1.0 and go into the android market and download and install an app called rom manager by koush it works similar to the dmupdater except it doesn't root your phone so you will need to be rooted before you use this but once you have installed rom manager go ahead and flash the clockworkmod recovery image then click on download rom from there just select the latest version of cyanogenmod which will be 5.0.4.3 once that is done your finished and enjoy, this is the best rom out for droid right now and is way better than the OTA that we are supposed to get

Delayed again?!?! Sheesh.
