Inventor of cell phone sports a Droid

Let’s say that you invented something really cool. Now, let’s say that that thing has morphed into something that hardly resembles what you invented.  Would you advance with your invention or simply keep using the old, familiar form of what you created? I am not sure would you’d do, but I know what Marty Cooper, the father of the cell phone did.

During a recent CSPAN interview, Mr. Cooper the man that is credited with inventing the cell phone, reveals that he now uses a Droid for his personal communicator.  The Droid wasn’t his first smart phone, however.  His iPhone was donated to his grandson to make way for the Droid.  See for yourself…

I thought the old movie actress Hedy LaMarr (sp?) held the patent on frequency hopping, the basis of cell phone technology? Invented it back in the early 1940′s.

  3. I think I read something about this guy being paid by Google to sport a Droid instead of an iPhone– was that a rumor? I mean, even if that's the case, I don't suppose it matters. Just wondering.

He must be really surprised at how far his invention has been updated and changed since it was first conceptualized. Thanks for posting this video. This is great.
