2D graphics slow down after 2.1 Droid update?

Well this isn’t good. After being endlessly toyed with regarding the release window for the Android 2.1 update, Droid owners are now finding that the OTA has significantly slowed 2D graphic performance, as evidenced by the video below. Pinch-to-zoom in various apps, Live Wallpapers, and other long awaited goodies are now happily rocking Droids around America and I’m wondering: is the new sluggishness really that noticeable in daily use? Would you gladly return those delicious new features for the higher frame rate? Are you sorry that the update finally dropped? Well, I’m sure the issue will be addressed, if not sooner, then…well, you know.

I have not find this problem on my droid

i used Astro to get rid of all the clutter from things I DL'd and don't use anymore and the i ran this app and my avg. frame rate is hangin' around 38.

It definetly slowed my phone down I can really notice..I WILL NEVER MUY ANOTHER MOTOROLA PHONE EVER...THEY CANT EVEN HANDLE A SIMPLE UPDATE WITHOUT ******* THE PHONE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my phone is SUPER laggy and sluggish after this new update. scrolling is waaaaay more choppy than it already was..... and going from one screen to another sometimes takes a couple seconds for it to register. this new update really messed things up. it's a noticeable change for sure. i'd gladly take the 2.0.1 back because it ran way smoother.

I really want the droid and crave the 2.1 additions but the slow down makes me wonder.

I still average 58-60 FPS on my official 2.1 update on my Droid with higher peaks on 2.1. Something is obviously lagging the "slow" phone. He should have compared the same phone, not two different ones.

Had he used the same phone for the before and after tests this might seem credible. But as it stands now it proves nothing. And as has been pointed out on some of the other forums this app doesn't even seem to give consistent results when it's run. I've have the 2.1 update on my phone and nothing has slowed down. Hell, I can categorically say that my Droid is actually faster than it was on 2.0.1. The time it ever seems slow is immediately after turning it on and unlocking it. But it was slow at boot on 2.0.1 also.

that seems like a significant slow down. I really want the droid and crave the 2.1 additions but the slow down makes me wonder...

Linpack is a popular one.

Surprisingly on my nexus one, it only did an average of 55 fps. Turned most everything off, but you'd think there would be a clearer difference between the cpus. Anyone else know of any cool benchmarking apps for android phones?

What's that app called? If he said it I can't hear it...no volume here.
