Changes to CM-5.0.6

Since people were curious about what the changes were in Cyanogen’s new 5.0.6 ROM, I thought I’d do a little overview of some of the highlight changes.

I am new to the rooted nexus one and I am currently using CM 5.0.5.3 and I have morphed my skin to black and some other things I cant remember right now, when APPLYING a new version of CM I am assuming all stuff I have modded/added will be reset, so what is a good way to upgrade every now and then, can I write scripts to re-apply morphs and google apps, and other apps, and what about backing up normal settings and keeping sms and stuff.

Could totally be wrong, but wouldn’t Anti Banding refer to better capability to take a picture of a computer monitor? It seems like it would be most useful for video of a computer screen, to reduce the flicker? The hz settings would match that theory.

When you go from CM ROM to CM ROM you don't have to wipe. This means that all your data (texts, settings, etc) will still be intact.

Thanks for the reply Carlos, I guess if the upgrade removes my morph skin that one is easy to apply again, what about google apps that I installed after, and HTC keyboard and Camera?

I guess my question is also general, what are the procedures for a smart way to restore the phone to a personal state, are there scripts or something I could write that can install a bunch of stuff for me quickly? titanium backup? nandroid? what do these backup options do, I am sure there are information out there, but you seem to test roms left and right so getting back to “normal” quickly for you must be important… maybe write a guide? im waiting… =)

Hey Carlos, what case are you using on your Nexus One?

    Hi Carlos,

Your CM reviews made me root my N1 and I like the rom a lot, but I have 1 caveat. Battery life was horrible (less than 10 hours) until I flashed a UV Persian Kernel. I tried using Enomther 1.81 for a little while, but now I can use CM 5.06 all day with moderate to heavy use with the help of Ulitimate Juice, Process Manager and SetCPU.

Getting a stable VPN connection from China is another story.
