In a recent NYT article, Google CEO, Eric Schmidt, was reported to have privately told friends at a party that the Company is currently working of their own tablet computer, and that it will run Android. Others have mentioned that Google is testing the waters with some publishers to work out e-reader content delivery. Somewhere along the line, this new gossip was attached to the image above, which was taken from Google’s Chromium Projects website, and I’ve seen numerous articles with the image referred to as an Android tablet concept render.

I have my doubts that Google will ever release an Android tablet. I’m not saying it can’t happen, but I think Google has other plans in mind. If my memory serves me correctly, the company openly stated that Android isn’t suited for such applications (I believe this was in regard to netbooks, specifically) and that Chrome would be blazing a Google trail through netbooks, tablets, laptops, and even desktops. But I think do think Chromium deserves a place here at DroidDog and we will be covering major developments.
