Legend and Desire hacked

ModacoPaul O’brien, hacker extraordinaire and head honcho over at MoDaCo, has rooted HTC’s Legend and Desire devices, as evidenced by the photo after the break. A tutorial won’t go public until Paul has had some time to work out kinks and test and such, but it is coming.

I am currently running MoDaCo’s Desire Alpha 19 and became an ad-free member of the site so I could use the very cool ROM kitchen located at that link. I’m happy enough with the ROM that I feel some props are due. BTW, if you’re interested in hacking your Nexus One and empowering it with Sense, check out my video tutorial on rooting. Carlos also made a video on flashing MoDaCo’s Desire, Alpha 19.

Does this mean that we'll be able to run “vanilla” Android on the Desire instead of HTC's Sense UI?

I would think so, but can't say for sure. I'm willing to bet that there are some Desire loving hackers out there who prefer Cyanogen.

That's what I'm hoping because if this phone comes out in the states with T-Mo 3G bands then it will definitely replace my G1. I've gotten over Sense UI after running ROMS on my G1 and now just prefer “vanilla” Android over all. I also heard that HTC has an option to turn off Sense on their phones. Is this true?
