Nexus One CelleBrite snap

As if we didn’t have enough reason to believe that Verizon’s launch of the Google Nexus One is right around the corner – Google’s own online shop places the release in Spring – another one of those photos of Verizon’s CelleBrite inventory system have popped up, this one with the N1′s name highlighted. Of course we still don’t have a precise date, but to the dozens of you who have asked me this week on Twitter when this thing will launch, I hope you find the following image soothing:

Okay. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but almost all carriers have this machine in their stores. I'm the owner of a non verizon cell phone store and I have this machine, and sadly the nexus one has been on this machine since it's release about two months ago. For those of you who don't believe me, here's a pic of the exact same screen on the machine. http://lh4.ggpht.com/_sRXns9rIwzM/S76IKOldaII/AAAAAAAAABE/8DlXV-Emet0/04081747.JPG

i hope the nexus one comes to sprint early to

It doesn't actually mean anything. CelliBrite's are machines designed to transfer contacts from phone to phone, regardless of carriers. I worked @ AT&T and Cellibrite updates came every quarter or so with all the new phones from every major carrier & company. It just looks like HTC has included cables/software to Cellibrite to transfer data to/from said devices...nothing more.

What's more interesting in this post is that two rows beneath the Nexus One, the HTC HD2 is listed. If that is the case, Verizon's momentum just increased substantially. The question here is will the introduction of the Nexus One, the extremely similar Incredible, and the massive HD2 cannibalize each other's sales and make some customers, like me, confused and tentative about which phone to get?
