Android 2.2, Froyo, to hit Nexus One in the next few weeks

In response to what I assume was a flood of impatient inquiries, someone over at the official Google I/O Twitter account responded, saying that the newest version of Android would go out to Nexus Ones in “the next few weeks.”

It’s no big surprize that Google would want to hit their own (lonely) flagship device first, but it’s great to hear something of a timeline from a semi-official source, however unofficial the statement itself may be. It will take a bit for HTC to get Sense up to speed with the latest OS changes.

Good to hear. I've been pretty frustrated and disappointed so far by the Nexus One support, and overall handling, by Google. My 3G is still iffy, which is probably a mixture of hardware and half-ass network upgrade by Magenta. But I will be happy to get 2.2 ASAP.

I hope that the Nexus One is not Google's last phone. Wouldn't it be great to get the latest os updates right away along with a 4+" amoled screen and more powerful video and photo?
