Third day of enjoying Froyo

I have been a huge fan of vanilla Android since 2.0 was released. I know a lot of people really like themes, and I don’t really mind them, but I am completely content with just the plain Jane serving offered by Google. Thankfully, FroYo has been no different for me. While poking about, I noticed some great changes in places like the Gallery app, which now lets you mass upload to Picasa (doing it one-by-one before was promoting insanity). The new Phone/App/Browser combo launcher bar is very handy and eliminates the need for at least two icons on the main screen. Who doesn’t love being able to update all apps at once from the market? Or how about the auto-update option on some apps? For some apps that have an update almost every other day, it’s pretty useful for me! And these are definitely not the only changes that have come with Android 2.2 Froyo flavor. What helpful changes have you guys noticed?

I believe so. I know that when I have a new message from Google Voice the color of the track ball is blue instead of white, but I think only the devs can modify it. I have not seen where it can be adjusted manually.

Could be awhile until the Eris gets 2.2, or could be pretty quick. All depends on how much the background code changed between 2.1 and 2.2 (seeing as the Droid Eris JUST now got 2.1).

Will I be able to use Skype without having to be "in network".... would really like to have the option of using Skype whenever I need to...without restrictions...on Verizon

Froyo is ONLY on the Nexus One right now. Did you really think Google would release it on other phones at the same time?!

Still waiting for Froyo for build EPE54B!

many improvements to the gmail app. color labels, switching through multiple accounts is smoother and navigation for email is quicker. Plus it now shows the contact pic in the email if they are linked to contacts. And the most useful addition to email is the ability to now select text within an email to copy and paste!!! yey!!! The clock app is a little like dock mode. Calls are grouped together on the call log and you are able to open them with a simple drop down. SMS and Gtalk are back to the white skins.

Can anyone confirm whether Froyo includes support for multicolor trackball notification? Currently, that's the main thing holding me back from going to Froyo from CM5.0.6.

Thank you Nicole. It is so nice to hear someone with a platform talking about how they like Vanilla Android. I am not opposed to people liking UIs like Sense or Motoblur, but I am concerned that Google, carriers, and handset makers will think everyone wants some kind of custom UI if I don't squawk about it http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=0cb21fdcaa70fbc6&hl=en I just want to continue to have an option to choose the vanilla ROM... Did you see how freaking fast we got FroYo?!?!?! That alone is a perk of Vanilla, not to mention its sleek look. Vanilla FroYo is win.

Anyone know if theres any illegal manual updates so i can put this on my HTC droid eris?

I'll let ya know when it comes to my Droid :(
