Behold II update finally being delivered

samsung-behold-ii-1Trust me, I know. You don’t have to say it. Who cares? Right? I know there is someone, somewhere, who will be thankful for this post. The Samsung Behold II, is finally receiving 1.6. We all know it’s not 2.1, but it’s something right? No more black and white market right? There’s also a better gallery and updates to search. In a perfect world, this update would be 2.1. All I can really say at this point, is get a different phone. I know Samsung may have burned you, but the Vibrant does look amazing. Anyone willing to give Sammy a second chance?

I had my fingers crossed for the Behold II and look what happened. I should have gone with the Cliq XT but the amol screen on the Behold II was really good.... that was my deciding point... however it looks like i made a mistake. Now along with many others I'm stuck with a pretty screen but less then desirable phone... :(

Doesn't it looking like HTC model

I have the behold 2. It's not that bad of a phone. The hardware is ok but the damned TouchWiz interface kills the beauty of stock android OS. Why, samsung? Why? Anyways, I think I'm getting the Samsung Vibrant when it's available for tmo. It's a beast and I'm crossing my fingers that Tmo and Sammy will update the software as frequently as possible. Long live Tmo? hmmmmmm.

I still haven't got an update. And Yes, I am definitely giving Sammy a second chance. Regardless of Samsung's infidelity They make beautiful pieces of hardware and the Galaxy S for T-Mobile looks amazing. I didn't buy my Behold II with Contract and my contract ends amazingly right when the Vibrant comes out. I'm soooo gonna get that.

I'm one of those unfortunate Behold II users, but I'm not quite as unfortunate as I might seem. With 1.5/1.6 still a huge dominant percentage of the installed user base I've yet to really miss out on much I think. Live wallpapers and some advanced features in home screen replacements? I'm running 1.6 already thanks to eugene_373 over at Androidspin (who has unfortunately for us given up and gotten rid of his Behold II). Having said all that the whole Samsung debacle still leaves a sour taste. And I know a lot of this comes from all the years I worked in tech journalism reviewing pc hardware. One of my jobs as a reviewer was to be a consumer advocate, and this lack of support by Samsung clearly demonstrates that they do not grasp precisely what a smartphone platform is. Even if we're not missing out on something truly substantial this time around (and the functional differences between 1.6 and 2.1 are admittedly minor), who's to say this debacle won't repeat itself with the new Samsung Android devices popping up everywhere. I'll personally be holding off on a significant smartphone upgrade until next year regardless (unless of course I luck up and get back into tech journalism in the smartphone market LOL), and perhaps by then we'll be into 3.0 Android and there will be something worth truly getting excited about. When that day comes however, I'll be looking at Samsung's offering last on my personal list.
