Dell Streak for O2 unboxed

Dell’s sexy, 5-inch-screen-packin’ MID should be hitting the States in about a month, but for those of you who want to get into the unboxing vids now, I give you a British version from SlashGear. The device has a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Wi-Fi- Bluetooth, GPS, etc. When the device does launch Stateside, it will cost you $500 unlocked from Dell.com and will be subsidized for use on AT&T’s network. There is hope that T-Mobile version will launch as well. Streak is launching – at least in the UK – with ANdroid 1.6, but Froyo is promised for later in the year.

It is clear from Dell's FCC filing that they are going to release a version of the Streak that works with T-Mobile's 3G bands. When will the T-Mobile Streak be released? That's the real question...We heard from Dell that the AT&T version is expected this month (July). As of today, still no word on whether the T-Mobile version will launch at the same time.

well if you look at the FCC specs for the dell streak it has both network antennas listed for it! so i am about 95% sure that it will work both for carriers!

1.6? Why are they still releasing things with 1.6?

i have a kind of silly question ,, is that a phone or just another tablet

is there a sim card in the iphone 3g i have one. could i use it in a unlock streak. if it dose how do you get if out of the iphone.

Most likely not. Unfortunately even though T-mobile and At&t are sim card networks, they don't work on the same 3g bands. Therefore, since the Dell Streak is programmed to work on AT&T's 3g network it will not work on Tmo's. Even if its unlocked. The only thing unlocked means for Tmo customers (such as myself) is another phone to show off on Edge or wireless unless Dell makes a version specifically for Tmo's network. It will work on Tmo but the 3g will not to put it simply.

i thought unlocked meant that you could use it on ATT or Tmo. When thd Streak is released in July, will I be able to use it with Tmobile? that is the carrier I am currently with

Yes, but you might not get 3G speeds. My Nexus One is unlocked but 3G only works on T-Mo. If I feed it an AT&T SIM, I'm stuck on EDGE.

the Streak is such an awesome device but I am concerned that I won't be able to use it with Tmobile right away when it is released. Doesn't "unlocked" mean just that?
