If you’ve been wrapped up a bit in the Motorola Shadow leaks lately (and really, who hasn’t?), you may have forgotten that Verizon and Moto have another DROID in the works for July. And while many have suspected those two phones were the Shadow and DROID 2, it seems the waters have just been muddied a bit, if by nothing more than a gold button.

Droid-Life has attained images of what looks to be the original DROID’s successor, and SlashGear is now leaning towards the name DROID Xtreme. As Mr. Selleck points out, there are a lot of reasons to look at this device as the DROID 2.

It’s said to be shipping with Android 2.2, a 4.1″ capacitive display, 8GB of internal memory, an HDMI port, and a 700MHz OMAP3630 processor. It runs without Motoblur and with 9…that’s NINE home screens. Nice, but I’m not sure that’s enough for me. So, which device are we looking at here? What is the other DROID under wraps? I doubt we’ll have to wait a month for more information.
