Samsung Galaxy S can be rooted, but it’s rough

If you thought the current method for hacking the myTouch Slide seemed risky and uncertain, then you definitely don’t want to toss your Galaxy S on the alter in the name of progress at this point. There is a thread over in the samdroid forums that will guide you in gaining su; either with a hacked kernel or by reflashing the original with some magical commands. But beware: as the poster cautions:

WARNING: THIS METHOD CAN BE DANGEROUSE. DO NOTHING IF YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOU DO.
I CAN’T BE RESPONSIBLE IF YOU TRANSFORM YOUR I9000 LIKE A BRICK
So, you know…maybe wait for the much improved hacks this foothold is sure to lead to.
