Screen response (non) issues of EVO and Incredible
Check out the videos below, which demonstrate the non-responsiveness of the EVO and Incredible’s touch screens when not grounded, as they are when held or in a car dock. The EVO test also features the Invisible Shield screen protector, which is an odd decision for screen responsiveness tests. Looks like tough times for people who like to cover their gadgets in plastic and manipulate a phone’s UI without actually holding it in their hand.
All kidding aside, I realize that there is a problem if a device’s touchscreen only works when grounded, but how often does that happen, really? I can see some minor frustration over not being able to tap and swipe your Incredible while it sits on the table, but slapping some film on top of an EVO’s screen and then calling the result a fault of HTC seems a bit silly to me. This does pose accessibility issues for those missing limbs, but I’m not sure this should be an issue of concern for the general consumer. So what will the user base do about this issue? Create a petition? File a class action civil suit? Maybe they’ll watch the videos, respond with the appropriate, “Meh,” and go on enjoying their killer phones.
