AT&T Samsung Captivate promo video

AT&T’s new Android Darling, the Samsung Captivate (“a Galaxy S phone”), will be launching on July 18th for $200 on a new two year contract and Ma Bell’s hype machine has kicked into gear with an Internet promo video. As Quentyn from Phandroid points out, it’s a cookie cutter spot. But I’ve got to say, it has me all excited to try the phone out – in any flavor, on any network.

Then again, that’s what happens when you put the right music behind some fancy moving images; people get excited. So I’ll just take a couple of deep breaths, remember the last Samsung Android experience I had, and try to view this beast with a critical eye…which I can’t wait to lay on that large Super AMOLED display.

I'm also using an Eternity right now. I want to wait till Fall, because I am hearing so much about upcoming phones... but I may not be able to let this one pass. Looks great!

I am looking forward to getting this phone. It will be the first droid phone for me. Thanks to not being eligible to upgrade right after Christmas, I'm still using Samsung Eternity. (hubby offered to get me an iphone when he upgraded his phone in December) We stopped by our local store last night just to see if they might have it on display to play with. When we asked about the Samsung Captivate, the sales rep said she'd never heard of it. I found that quite odd since it's set to be available next Sunday.

perfection. contract ends the 27th, so on the 28th i will be heading to the closest at&t retail store ftw

I think it still gives the iPhone a challenge. The iPhone has the front camera, but the Captivate has plenty the iPhone doesn't. And neither has flash (until Captivate gets the Android 2.2 update, then it will).

OOOH, Cant wait! Kinda disappointed for no front facing camera, AT&T's lock on third party apps and no flash but I probably will check it out as my new upgrade! If it were to have those extra specs I think it would have given the iPhone 4 a challenge on who is the strongest phone on AT&T.
