Augen $150 Kmart tablet

Everyone loves a good deal, and I hope it’s safe to say that Augen’s 7-inch Android tablet is a great deal at just $149.99, but I’ve never used a product from the Florida-based company so I’ll have to wait and see what other folks think of the devices once they’ve had their hands on one…or until I find one at my local Kmart.

Yep, this one is going straight to Kmart and can even be added to your shopping list in Kmart’s circular here. What will you get for your buck fiddy? Android 2.1, WiFi, 2GB of storage and 256MB of RAM. Not bad, right? The GenTouch product page lists the full specs:

•800×480 color TFT touch panel screen
• CPU: 800 Mhz
• Ram: DDR2 256mb
• Internal Memory: 2GB
• Expansion Slots: SD/MMC card slot up to 16GB
• Wi-Fi Connectivity with Full Web Browsing Capability
• Supports Ebook Formats: Text, PDF, E-PUB, HTML
• Supports Media Formats: MP3, WMA, FLAC, AAC
• Supports most popular E-Book formats
• Picture Viewer in JPEG, BMP
• Video Player
• Rechargeable Lithium Battery
• Carrying case included

We’ll see what we can do about scoring one of these for a proper video demonstration.

I am eagerly awaiting the announced patch, because it will fix the Android Market issue that doesn't allow it to download apps (I did successfully install apps through the MicroSD card though).

The CPU in the Augen Gentouch 7" is a Telechip TCC8902 720Mhz processor. See my video taking it apart below...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4E6Q_hBm70E

Well picked one up and I think I will return it. Out of the box it kinda works, hangs starting up. Not sure yet if battery life is very low or the unit is defective. Can NOT add apps from the market over my home wifi network, will try on another network and see if that works. Overall I hoped to make this a kindle platform with a little browser and email use, but no market functionality pretty much makes it a loser.

Does it have a battery? a headphone/mic jack?

Nice nice... but its resistive touch screen, so no multitouch...A simple unboxing and review at http://www.androidtablets.net/forum/augen-gento...

Youtube has a video by a real life android showing his Augen he got at Kmart. It looks like a real good buy. Lots of attachments, a good touch screen. I hope you like hairy legs!

I am eagerly awaiting a couple good reviews for such a great price..
