CyanogenMod 6

The long awaited CyanogenMod 6 based off of Froyo 2.2, is finally here. If you know anything about rooting and ROMS, then you know who Cyanogen is. His team of devs have been working feverishly for the last couple weeks to come out with CM6 for several devices, and the onslaught has officially started. So far, you can download CM6RC1 for the following devices:

Dream / Magic
Nexus One
Motorola DROID

There are also plenty more versions of CM6 to come. Some of these may be ports, but look forward to seeing CyanogenMod on the HTC Desire, myTouchSlide, Hero, and the HTC EVO 4G. Expect the Slide and EVO releases very soon, as there is already picture proof floating around on Twitter that both have been successfully flashed. Quick side note to Slide hackers, a PERMANENT recovery is also on the brink of release, so flashing these new ROMs won’t be such a hassle. For more information on Cyanogen and his team’s ROMs, visit CyanogenMod.com and check under the forums. Has anyone here flashed the RC1 for any of their devices yet? If so, how do you like it? Be sure to keep checking back with us for more coverage on the progress of CM6 and more.

Cant wait for the non-test release for the Sprint Hero. Im not a huge fan of ADW(much prefer LauncherPro) But I will be downloading once everything is working right.

I flashed it last night on my N1, had to go back to the old 5.0.8. Thank goodness for nandroid backups. No 720p video, no real apps2sd. Flash worked great on it but that was really the only plus that I saw. Froyo didn't seem much faster than 5.0.8 and SetCPU wouldn't work reliably either.I'll wait for more features before flashing again.

I flashed it on a G1 yesterday. Couple of random reboots, Facebook and Twitter account syncing does not appear to be working, and I am not a fan of the ADW launcher (prefer stock). On the positive side, this ROM is sleek and quick (once you disable dithering), I think it is significantly faster than 5.08 on a MyTouch 3G. Only small bugs, so absolutely worth the flash.

tried flashing it last night. It flashed fine, seemed really fast, however I was unable to log into Google apps (gmail, market etc). I will wait a few more days before I try to flash it to my G1 again.

Flashed it on my N1. Missing too many features that 5.0.8 had. Switched back. Thank goodness for Nandroid.
