I'm having the same exact issue.
I have a friend that works at a T-mobile spot.
I'm about to go in and see what he can do.
I might just have to reset it to factory settings.

My motorola cliq, now updated to 2.1 is pretty much a brick in the following desperately important areas: contacts (over 10 seconds just to load list), dialer won't pull up contacts in a timely manner, google maps is much slower, when sending a photo, the compose email addresses does not load contacts as you type, restarting phone does nothing. I'm about to chuck this F#cker at the head of the CEO of Motorola AND T-Mobile. Now to get them to stand close together.

ive been usually this rom for a couple hours now and these are my impressions so far. overall its significantly more responsive than the 1.5. it runs pretty fast for an unofficial build that hasnt been touched by major developers like cyanogen. its slow during the first boot and you have to remake your blur account but thats not really a big deal (atleast not to me). its got alot of neat features like resizing widgets and along with new widgits being added, the previous widgits have been remade and look a little better now. it does have an issue with the homescreening if you start moving things around and resizing rapidly: deatails of this issue are that the screen freezes but you can still look at those 6 most recent apps youve been using. however you can move anything on the homescreen or even the app drawer until you reboot the phone. there is an option inside the settings for an update which i found surprising. this means an ota is there, and its on the tmobile servers, appearantly it just isnt being pushed out yet. im currently trying to download this ota through the phone and extract it through the root files from the phone but im not rele getting anywhere. all in all i have a feeling when this rom is completed its going to breath new life into the moto cliq , yet this doesnt forgive motorola for delaying the rom for such a long time. yet the delay was inevitable considering how heavily skinned the moto blur is, since skinned versions of android make it harder to adjust new android firmwares to the phone that has that skin.

So does this involve updating it from the sd card? or is it rooting to update with a new rom?
