Samsung Epic 4G to release August 20th?

This is all very unofficial and rumor-like, but there is some validity to the story. Android Police has devoted some detective work to the release of the Epic 4G that leads you to believe the device will be released sometime around August 20th (and Samsung kinda agrees, more on that in a minute). Here’s the story. Samsung has a site dedicated to tutorial type promotions called SPS TV. On SPS TV, there are two episodes in the Samsung Galaxy S On Demand series; One on the Vibrant, and one on the Captivate.

“the Captivate video was posted on Monday, July 19th, which happens to be the first business day after the official launch date that fell on a Sunday (July 18th)

The Vibrant video was posted on Wednesday, July 21st, which seems late, as the phone was released on the 15th. However, if we remember that this release date got moved up at the last minute to the 15th to compete with the Droid X release and was originally scheduled for the 21st, things fall into place again.”

Then once you look at this picture…

…And try to keep in mind that the 20th falls on a Friday… this seems to make a lot of sense. Samsung has also mentioned the Epic 4G dropping soon via Twitter:

It’s like Samsung has said, there’s no price or launch date yet, but with “this summer” as the projected time-frame… it can’t be long now. At this point, I think it’s safe to say there’s only one reason the Epic hasn’t been released already, the HTC EVO. Look for more info shortly.
