Samsung Vibrant (T-Mobile) Live Wallpapers and widgets

I’ve noticed that some people are pretty unhappy with TouchWiz 3.0. Namely, those vanilla lovers with Froyo. I don’t think it’s so bad. In fact, I kinda like it. And while there are some elements I would (and have) change, like the lock screen, overall, it’s a very usable UI. And besides the practical additions by Samsung – like the toggle buttons in the notifications drop-down menu – some fun stuff has been included for aesthetics, and tools for real productivity. Here’s my look at the Vibrant’s Live Wallpapers and widgets.

Notice the correction on customizing the app dock.

I had this problem, and I figured it was the same thing the phone has been doing with some of my apps and media. For instance: I have a bajillion photos on my SD card, and the Gallery displays them; however, when I opened up my Photoshop.com Mobile app, it said I had new photos. So I moved all my pictures from the SD card to the phone storage and--voila!--Photoshop.com Mobile said I had pictures.Same problem with the contacts: you need to save them to the actual phone. When you open up your contact list, hit the Menu button, select "More," and select "Import/Export." Export all your contacts to your SD card. Next, repeat the process, but this time select to Import contacts from your card. When prompted, select the "Save to phone" option. This took about a minute with my 146 contacts. Once it's finished, you will notice that all of your contacts that once only had the Google, Facebook, Myspace, and/or Twitter icons next to them on the bottom right will now also have a little green phone icon. Try adding members to your groups at this point, and you should be good to go.

swype also has a dpad and a very useful "editing keyboard". swype from the 'tips' button to the 'symbol' button to bring it up.

Moderators just a tip you may want to point out about this phone u can adjust the brightness on the samsung vibrant by swiping ur finger over the top of the screen.Try it out..maybe you can make an additional video to address some of these things.

yes there is , its an onscreen d pad its pretty useful. You have to have the samsung keyboard selected then hold down the key to access the symbols and presto an on screen dpad will appear

Does anyone know how to add members to a group in contatcs? When i select a group and then select add members, it only gives me two of my 300 plus contacts. and when i go into an individual contact that is already in my contacts it does not give me an option to add that contact into a group. However if i create a new contact it gives me the option to select a group. Thanks in advance

I noted that using YouTube's notations. I think a lot of people turn those off by default. Thanks for your comment.

Love the luminescent blocks one! Can't wait until I get my phone on Monday.

Hey John, just letting you know that you can indeed change the bottom 3 applications to whatever you desire. All you have to do is go into your applications folder, change it to customization view. Then you hit the menu button and press edit, you will see that the 3 are highlighted and now you can drag which ever apps you prefer there.

acutally there is a d-pad if you hold down the button to access symbols a d-pad will appear.

the international in fact does not have a d pad, it is just a ome button

the unlocked original doesnt have a d pad that thing in the middle it just a big no touch home button... a lot of phones dont have trackpad/dpad type things now... they didnt put one there so the phone isnt to large

No D-Pad on international version, it's just a button.

Hey John, you can change the contacts, and messge icons from the bottom. Go to Applications>Menu>View Type>Customizable Grid>Menu again>Edit. That's it. Enjoy!

It really does look like a great phone, but I think they failed big time with the hardware. The CPU/GPU obviously reign supreme here, but not having a D-Pad or track pad of some sort is ridiculous (the international version has a D-Pad, right?). I could do without the LED flash or front-facing VGA camera at this price range (although I'm not sure adding an LED would have cost them THAT much...), but cmon, no D-Pad. Certain apps/editors just need directional control.

I love the UI. It's WAY nicer than stock Android. The music player and calendar are two apps that come to mind that are FAR nicer in TouchWiz than they are in Vanilla Android. This, of course, is my opinion, and "to each, his own", as they say.
