T-Mobile’s Samsung Vibrant in the house
How many of our readers just purchased a Vibrant this morning? I was at my local T-Mobile store at 10:00 and noticed a few people waiting to get in. I figured there would be a wait with the new line activations and such, but it turned out that two people were there to ask general questions, and only one person, besides myself, was there for a Vibrant! I thought that was a bit surprizing considering that my DROID X pre-order didn’t make the cut to be included with the first shipment.
What are you all experiencing? Lines? Sell outs? Or are the phones just waiting to be purchased? Let us know in the comments.
DroidDog’s unboxing of the Vibrant and the start of Q&R will follow shortly.

went to the store to pay my bill and store was empty…i asked if they had any vibrants and they said yup a whole bunch…i would have gotten one if it was made by htc but im not a samsung person..never was.I did get to play with it tho
got it at 10 this morn sweet device
Just bought mine on Wirefly for $149.99, no rebate.
No comments? I was very much hoping for some sort of customer review…
Phones are just waiting to be purchased. I called-in my order through T-Mobile with NO problems. Now, I can’t wait to get my Vibrant.
ordered my phone online… cheaper price… and u can get flex pay… should arrive tomorrow
I was the second person in the store today..guy in front of me got 2. There were at least 3 other people on a line of 8 waiting for one as well.
At my local T-Mobile they are just waiting to be purchased. I don’t think the average customer knows that this phone is even out yet.
I got mine this morning in a major nashville area store and I was the only one there in line for the Vibrant. I got there an hour early thinking it would be a mad house. I then went at lunch to the downtown store and they said that they haven’t sold one unit yet. Tmobile just didn’t promote it.
I ordered mine online and I can’t wait to get it!!!
For the Q&R, you know you’re gonna get asked about that “night mode” for the flashless camera.
not even any promo's outside the store, no in store display or any mention of it.
WOW i went at 11am no problem getting one.
GalaxyS=samsung fail
my store didn’t have a floor model, but had them in stock. no people in the store when i went, but i didn’t buy one… turns out i’ve got another year on my contract. boy this year has really dragged. not that my g1 isn’t super awesome running CM508, but i wish i could get something with a little more… umph. without shelling out 500 bucks.
I went in around 11am here in California, and there was no line to be had. there were the usual customers, only one other person besides myself was looking for the Vibrant. I ended up ordering online at tmobile as the pricing was better there for some reason…now I have to wait…
I purchased one easily. There was no demo units or promotional materials. There were no accessories for it in stock either. I would have purchased a screen protector, car charger and case, but none were available. This could have been a huge launch if there would have been some strong marketing behind it. Big miss for T-Mobile. The phone itself is AWESOME. Go out and get one.
Checked with my retail store yesterday and they had 10 ….. Went in at 10:00 this morning and got the 4th sold….. went back this afternoon….. NONE left !! Everyone was right …. this phone is a beast !
Got one today from Costco. $175 total for upgrade withe $50 mail in rebate. $125 after rebate = great deal
Strange you would think that Tmo would be pushing this like they pushed the Slide. Real strange. I bet they push their next HTC phone! Lol
Went in the afternoon, one person activating a new Vibrant some teens deciding that it was exactly like the iphone and that is it. Tmobile has not advertised this phone at all, but then again they really could not advertise to save their lives. Think Whoopi.
Went in at 10:30 in California. I was the first to buy the phone no one in the store the whole time i was there. pretty lonely…
Kinda mad that no one mentioned that the 14 Gigs on the phones internal memory were available for apps you only get almost 2 gigs for apps on the internal storage.
Went to tmobile here in KC about 6. No line and no display model, all though you could see the phones stacked up behind the counter. I asked the rep and she let my try hers out. Didnt buy it since im not eligible for the upgrade. i am considering selling my nexus one and touch pro 2 though to buy it, Its better in person and the pics do it no justice!
It was the same in. long island, new york. I went yesterday to scout, and was outside at 10 AM. I was the only one. When I was finishing up, there was another person coming in for one.we both wondered about the lack of promotion as we stood next to the huge mytouch centerpiece. I take it T-mobile get a better cut on them.
Anyways I love this phone. coming from a G1, this thing is a beast. Getting used to swype and touchscreen typing may be a challenge, but Im glad I waited for this phone (and still bought it after I had doubts after the stripped it down). Well worth it.
Duplicate entry… Sorryz.
I was at the tmo store in Santa Monica, CA today at 1:30 pst. The place was practically empty. I asked to look at the Vibrant and they had to go in the back and bust out a box as I was the first person to ask about it. The rep said I could get it for 149.99 with rebate and extension. He also said they had plenty in stock for all those who wanted it. The phone looks great! A little “plasticky” and light imho, but the screen…wow! TouchWiz 3.0 seems pretty good. Very snappy. Looks like this might be my next buy after I wait for more user reviews to come in.
Got mine from Costco for $99
Every time i transfer media to the phones internal memory, the media gets messed up either mp3s play with added noises, pictures dont all show up, videos are shredded and messed up can anyone verify this is happening to them?
I got it, and I love it so far. I had the good ship G1 since it came out, and I've watched all these wonderful, powerful android phones come out while I walk around with what was essentially a 1980s remote control in my pocket. Now I have something sleeker, sexier, and more powerful than the wand of Oden. The only problem I've encountered so far is that I can't seem to mount it to my macbook. I'll work on it tomorrow, but any suggestions in the meantime?
I bounced around getting it all day, then decided why the hell not. Called the tmobile store and asked if they had it, they assured me they did. This was at around 6 p.m. so people had plenty of time to wander in off the streets looking for some hot android action. There was nothing in the store about the phone that I saw, just giant mytouch slide propaganda all over the place. Right now I'm sporting the purple backplate.
Well John's experience was almost Identical to mine… two people were ahead of me but they all had questions about their old device. I guess people realized how cheap this phone is… while the screen is GREEEEAT… and data connectivity is brilliant, I am sending my phone back tomorrow because it feels very cheap, drains battery life quickly, the touchwiz screen transition (moving from one screen to the next) is terribly jerky when you have widgets on there.. on the side, the plastic rims around it are weak and makes noise… Mobi TV is great on it but i felt like i was robbed of $523.00 … im going to keep my rooted nexus one until a better phone comes out for tmobile. smh
not happening here. i did created a new folder for media and created separate sort folders (music, video, and photo, etc.) before adding any content. dropped my stuff in there…zero issues.
note: your htc's are using samsung parts…
its an early soft launch. offical launch next week
FYI
a lot of sites are stating that the vibrant was an early (soft) launch. offical launch next week. thats when you'll probably see some promo's for it!
Picked mine up at 9am and have not put it down since then. My old G-1 will be passed on to my wife or it will try and survive one of my kids and the 5000 a day text messages they send out. I had to trim up a EVO screen protector to fit my screen as I was not going to take a chance with the spectacular screen. I mean OMG I saw it in the videos here on phonedog but when I saw it in real live I had to reach for my wallet, there was no way it was not going to come home with me. Love the Touch Wiz and the Allshare App. Set it up on my wireless and it connected to my PC and started playing one of my legally obtained movies I have on my server. Phone is great … go get one.
I brought mine online at T-mo yesterday and it came today via UPS…This phone is sweeeeet…T-mo should have marketed this phone much better and had accessories readily available…I need carrying case, car charger, charger cradle, and skin
you were robbed dude smarten up
I bought one on July 15 at the kiosk at a Tampa area mall. Got up at 6AM to order it on line and then decided I would take a chance on finding one local. Didn't make the mall until about 3 PM and was the first to buy one although they probably sold some at the company storefront down the mall. I absolutely love this phone – it does everything well and the screen is fantastic. Told my daughter in Austin about it and she bought one that evening and has the same opinion. BTW – both stores had T-Mobile brand skins (black only) specifically for the Vibrant that fit great.
