AT&T Code Scanner available now

AT&T has decided to enter the barcode scanning race by releasing their new app titled Code Scanner for Android and BlackBerry users. Code Scanner does just what it sounds like, with the added exception of one unusual feature: The ability to create a 2D (QR and datamatrix codes) and 1D (UPC and EAN) barcodes with “Create-a-code.” There are two options to download:
App Store: Search for AT&T Code Scanner in your device app store. You can find it on BlackBerry App World, Android Market, and AT&T MediaNet
Mobile Web: Go to http://scan.mobi on your mobile device
I’m not sure how popular this app will be with BlackBerry users (as I am not familiar with their market offerings), but it may be hard to break into the Android scanner market with apps like Google Goggles and Shop Savvy already claiming their stake of the market. Android is all about options though, no? For more information, visit the dedicated Code Scanner page here.
