Dell Streak available for $300 online, 2.1 firmware leaked
Dell is now selling their 5″ screen havin’ tablet/phone, Streak, in their online shop for $299 subsidized by AT&T on contract and for $549 free and clear. Well, perhaps “free” isn’t the appropriate term, as an outright purchase will get you a carrier locked Streak with no frequency band support for T-Mobile 3G. Nevertheless, this gadget is garnering a great deal of buzz, if only for its screen size and Dell branding.
Streak ships with Android 1.6, but will be bumped up officially, to 2.1 before too long. Android hackers are paying particularly close to the Streak’s capabilities, and will be happy to know that some 2.1 firmware has been leaked over at MoDaCo forums, where users are reporting solid performance. This may not be the final version of the update that Dell will eventually release, but if you’re once of those antsy tech fanatics (ahem), read all about the leak here.

I'm disappointed with the Streak...I was really looking forward to this MID launching until I realized Dell had no intention on releasing it with an up to date firmware. Not to mention the UI "enhancements" that Dell vomited all over the device. Not only that but now it can only run on AT&T which is the worst service provider in my area.
