Facebook app updated to 1.3.0

Well that didn’t take long now did it Mr. Tseng? Available today, the Facebook app for Android has been updated to version 1.3.0. The update to the app contains many new changes, which I hear are all for the better. Among those changes are a scrolling block of photos at the bottom of your screen to view recent uploads from friends (which can also be dragged up for notifications), one-tap search/status update, in-app video playback, event compatibility, and more. Those of you who are socially addicted, or just like to stay connected, can download the app from this link on your mobile device, or scan the QR code below.

I’m looking forward to your opinion on the new Facebook app in the comments, because well… I don’t have one. So far, the feedback has been very positive. Hopefully your experience won’t differ.

It’s a halfway decent start, but there are many problems. Many links just bring you to the browser, which is arguably better than the app. Not to mention notifications STILL don’t work, yet on Twitter if someone replies to you you get the notification almost instantly.

Good update like all the ui things improvements
but honestly the fucking iphone app with the chat
    and the zoom in/out multi-touch
    still killing my android version.

  3. I've been playing with the update since it released. I do like the new UI a lot. While the general UI for the individual components of Facebook have not really been touched, the new main menu screen is a welcome change of pace. I am still a little annoyed that choosing a notification will take you to the mobile website, however, I feel that this happens less often throughout the rest of the app. Overall, this is the update that Android/Facebook fans have been waiting for. Let's just hope that we see more updates in the near future to further polish this app.

true new facebook update looks sweet

It now supports Facebook messaging eventually… I had previously chosen to use http://touch.facebook.com as it was fully featured compared to the previous version of the app.

It’s about time :) I really didn’t like the previous facebook app. The new version is much more attractive and pragmatic, but as mentioned in another comment, I’m still not a fan of being redirected to the mobile site.

maybe one day we wont have to wait 30 minutes for notifications…

  8. Ryan Prince says:

Well I've had it installed for about 7 hours. The look and feel is definitely much nicer, however active notifications are still not working so I still have Bloo dealing with that for me.

Notifications are working better for me but still not fast enough. I'm still gonna use email notifications so I get them instantly. Beats 30 min interval.

Pinch to zoom in photos is nice touch. Addition of events is the biggest thing for me. Even lets you click on address and go straight to Google Maps. Only wish clicking on a notification didn't take you to web app…but overall much better.

I couldn't find this, no update to my existing app, then scanned the QR and it couldn't find. Please don't tell me this is just one more cool Android app I can't use because Motorola has me stuck on $^@%#* 1.5! Damn this Cliq XT!

The update has some nice innovative features but the apple's app still offers more. We don't get chat or easy scrolling to the other facebook features. Video still does not work. Mobile website really??? We have more than enough power to cache a better app. HTC EVO 4G

This update is only marginally better than it was before. Still falls VERY short of the facebook iPhone app. No realtime notifications and still brings me to the facebook website to show me stuff. 'Meh' at best.

exactly. I advise that yall download BLOO from the market. it's a facebook app in which you can set notifications to a rate of every minute to 2 to 3 and as much and once a day i think. Also when you long press an update, it take you right to the particular update instead of taking you to the person's wall and have all their post to load.
