Google announced via their LatLong Blog today that their latest update for Google Earth for Android includes accurate maps of the ocean floor – which can be experienced virtually using your device’s accelerometer – and, for Nexus Ones running 2.2, Flash videos in location pop-up bubbles. So, if someone captured a Humpback Whale arching through the air directly above the area you are currently navigating, you can watch it like you would in the desktop app.
So tap that “Look Around” button, check the Oceans layer, and go hunting for treasure…of the photo/video variety! (Google Earth for ANdroid requires Android 2.1, 211MB free SD Card memory, and 35MB free system memory.)
