id Software FPS titles coming to Android?

Last December, when id Software hit Google with a batch of DCMA complaints regarding ports of Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein, and even a Doom Soundboard, some speculated that that the figurative godfather of first person shooters had plans of its own for launching titles officially in the Android Market. And today, it looks like that could very well be the case.

At the QuakeCon 2010 conference this past week, id’s founder, John Caramack, demonstrated their multi-award-winning game RAGE running on the iPhone at 60 frames per second. More exciting was the talk at the conference of a possible Android release. Considering Mr Caramack’s fondness of RAGE on the iPad (mentioned in the video), I wouldn’t be surprized if id waited for a proper Android counterpart for their first official Andy launch.
