Motorola Milestone to see Froyo this September

Hot on the heels of the Motorola DROID for Verizon wireless receiving Froyo sometime this week, comes an official announcement from it’s European brother regarding the same update. According to a tweet from O2 Germany, you can expect to see the device update to 2.2 sometime around mid to late September.

Originally, near the end of July O2 announced that the Milestone may not see an update to Froyo at all. It’s comforting to know that Android users all around the world get to know the joys of Froyo. Android has long endured ridicule for “fragmentation” and “legacy” problems, but this recent burst of 2.x updates should start to hush the naysayers.

I’ve known a couple people who run unlocked Milestones on their North American GSM carrier of choice. Anyone out there sportin’ one?
