Motorola to fix DROID X volume woes

A company admitting they’re wrong? You don’t say. Over at the Motorola support forums, a mod by the name of Matt has come out and said that Motorola is acknowledging the volume for some notifications being too low. He goes on to say that there will be a fix released shortly and then provides a list of the top ten loudest ringtones. The list is as follows:

1. Bolly Wood
2. Dancing’ Fool
3. Digital Phone
4. Road Trip
5. Gimme Mo’Town
6. Noisey One
7. Caribbean Ice
8. Very Alarming
9. Terrible Two’s
10 Third eye

I’ll be honest with you, this is the first I’ve heard of this problem. Has anyone else experienced this? Let us know in the comments. You know, I know someone with a DROID X who just might have to let us know how the volume on their device is. Stay tuned for more info when we get it.

I've had my DroidX since April of 2010.  I have had nothing but issues with the volume being too low from day one.  Now with the recent Gingerbread update my volume is even lower than before!  It almost sounds as though the speaker is blown, as its VERY distorted.  I can't even listen to music on it anymore.  I really love this phone overall, but I'm so disappointed with how long it's taking to find some sort of fix for this issue that so many seem to be having.  I really don't want to part with this phone!

Had the Droid and now have the DroidPro my volume on both devices goes to full blast no matter how you set it. Once you charge it or play for a little the volume just goes up by itself.

I love my droid X, however the volume all around is crap. I have to make sure my mouth is almost pressed into the mic for people to hear me and even on speaker phone I have to have the speaker pressed into my ear to fully hear people most of the time (try doing both of those things on this phone at once for a full conversation lol). I did find an annoying loud ringer that sounds almost like a fire alarm that I can hear, but for conversations, playing media online, playing music, it still blows. It's the only thing that keeps me from being a satisfied customer and if they don't fix it soon I can guarantee I'll not pre-order from them again. It's already been WAY too long.

My volume sucks bad on my droid x ...the speaker is worthless

I have the Droid (su)X and yes the volume is ridiculous. I use my phone alarm for basically everything. Getting up to take my daughter to school, calendar reminders, medicine reminders, EVERYTHING. The alarm as it is doesn't wake me up even when it's right next to my head. Can't wait to see if the update can fix this otherwise the phone is basically useless to me.

Sound for video is so low that it makes the use of this feature unusable.

I have a speaker problem.....I've had the Droid X for about 5 weeks and I missed more calls and texts than what I've actually heard come in!!!!Noreen in TN

MY VOLUME SUCKS ON MY DROID X

I believe this problem is much more severe than a software upgrade. The volume of sounds coming out of the headphone 1/8" jack is perfect. The sound coming out of my speaker is worthless. My wife has the original Droid, and I have the X. We both compared the rooster crowing alarm, and the one on the X is insignificant at all. It is more than 6db lower (my estimate) which makes it impossible to use as an alarm. The other major problem with the X is WIFI. I don't even turn mine on because it is so unreliable. It works for about a minute...then it stops. The good part is I believe this could be fixed with a software upgrade.Other than these points...I still love this phone. I came from a BlackBerry Storm, and I haven't looked back a bit (except that I use my Storm as my alarm still because my X isn't sufficient enough).

The volume is definitely too low. Not just notifications but EVERYTHING that comes out of the speaker is too low. I hope Motorolla does not think they are going to fix this just by raising the volume of the default notifications that come with phone. The loudest notifications are still not as loud as they should be. When the max volume of the droid x is compared to the max volume of any other phone, there is a big difference. This is very disappointing. The video and display is wonderful but it is a phone.... The volume is more important. I hope Motorolla takes responsibility for this problem with their product and I hope they stand behind the customers who paid a lot of money to buy it.

Some times my sms/mms notices were quiet...Also had my phone replaced because the speaker in the phone sounded blown when on calls...So hopefully this one wont do the same thing

The biggest complaint I have had with my Droid X is the volume. I have missed more alarms and phone calls with this phone than any phone I have ever had before. Other than that, I really like the thing.

My volume seems fine on my Droid X

I didn't have this problem, but I just had to replace my DroidX, because the phone simply wouldn't ring. I could have it turned up all the way and it would only vibrate when I got calls. So far the new one is working fine, but I haven't used it for 24 hours even... other than that and battery life woes, the phone is great!
