Netflix coming to Android, eventually

At this point it certainly can’t come too soon, but I would rather have a polished, feature-rich Netflix app for my Android than a rushed one. And it sounds like the tech/entertainment company is working hard on bringing a quality app to the Android Market. In response to questions from the Reddit crowd, an apparent Netflix employee said the following this morning:

“I just know we’re actively hiring Android devs. I wish I knew more about a timeframe for you. Good things come to those who wait. Netflix is essentially a tech company and with the way Android is blowing up it would be stupid of us to ignore that.”

I would be happy with a simple queue manager, but I’m thinking that I’ll probably be watching Eastbound and Down on my EVO’s screen when this thing finally launches. At least I hope so. If not, I pray that Netflix releases a disc-free version of their software for PS3. Man, those things are a hassle.

a Netflix app for the PS3 should be coming sometime this year since I think Microsoft's contract with them expires, so native streaming should be coming to the Wii and PS3 soon enough.

That's a good idea. Maybe a magazine instead of a platter. The disc-free Netflix for PS3 was alluded to in a recent announcement, but I get the feeling that it's a ways off. I just got a replacement disc that didn't even work once!

i hate having to switch back and forth discs between my games and netflix disc!! the next ps3 should come with like a disc changer, where you could put up to like 6 games at once and just swap between them when wanted to!!
