T-Mobile G2 (Blaze) from Wal-Mart

Today has been a big day for the G2. We’ve seen our first finished product leak just hours ago, and now thanks to Wal-Mart, we may know a little more. On the wireless section of the Wal-Mart website, the guys from over at Cell Phone Signal have discovered what looks to be a page reservation for the “HTC G2 Blaze.” The rumored release date for the G2 is still the 29th of September, so it would make sense to get the site prepped for the arrival. We already knew the device was coming soon, so what else could we possibly learn? How about some new specs, which interestingly enough, go against some rumors regarding the G2 that’s been floating around for awhile now:

Android OS w/ HTC Sense
3.7″ Active Matrix OLED display
1 GHz Snapdragon Processor
Landscape slide-out QWERTY keyboard
5MP camera with autofocus.
3G HSPA+
WiFi + Hotspot capabilities
aGPS
Bluetooth 2.1 + Enhanced Data Rate

The only thing we haven’t heard yet is that whole HTC Sense thing; It’s been heavily rumored that the G2 will ship with vanilla Android. Just keep in mind that this Wal-Mart listing is in no way official, so you anti-manufacturer-UI supporting folks out there shouldn’t give up yet. Another interesting note to point out is the name for the G2 listed. T-Mobile themselves have been referring to the device as the G2 and nothing more. We know T-Mo owns the trademarks for the name Blaze, but it’s yet to show up anywhere until now. So what do you guys think? G2? G2 Blaze? Sense? Vanilla?

I will be getting one to replace my bb 9700 Bold. Solid phone the bb is but this new G2 has me wanting Google for sure. I bet the name has at least G2 in it :) and from what I am seeing sounds like Sense will be the UI.

G2 with Sense or Vanilla. I use Launcher pro anyway so interface shminterface... :)

the way u root your slide is not that hard. just goto the cyanogenomod site and look up HTC Slide. u also hve 2 download the Android SDK but thats only to gain access to the tools of the SDK so you can get into recovery boot mode while connected to your computer. i have CM6 RC1 on my slide.... and man am i happy i rooted! 2.1 was getting on my nerves especially with that crap espresso sense on top slowing it down.... yea its pretty 2 lok @ but if my phone is going slow slow cause of it i dont want it.

you know walmart doesnt sell the phones, its wirefly or whatever. 3rd party company. So THEY are wrong, not walmart.

Well the bright side, I don't care if it's Sense or Vanilla if its 2.1+, since I believe HTC allows you to disable sense on the newer devices if you don't like it, I think Sense is nice with the custom SDK integration.

At least it's not anything else such as TouchWiz or MotoBlur. I just hope that when 3.0 comes out they wipe all custom UI and leave them for weaker phones. I want vanilla for the big guns.

Going to Verizon??? Really??? have you not paid any attention to the previous post??? T-Mobile all day they had the G1 this is it's proper successor right on time after the stop making the G1

Im pretty sure hes referring to the 1.2/1.5 Ghz Snapdragon. Not the G2 itself.

Vanilla Android please.... Stop with the custom versions and just put Vanilla Android on everything I'm just going to put Cyanongen on it anyways....

I really hope that it runs vanilla android.

I think someone is messing with us. I just looked up on WM's site and nothing to be found about this phone.

im sorry but, WALMART ur wrong. Even on tmobile's teaser site, it says with google and mentions things like google experience. Cause if it aint stock froyo, tmobile u just made a whole lot of people angry....

darn no 1.2/1.5 Ghz Snapdragon, thats probably going to verizon.... the desire z looks pretty sweet though (like a nexus with a keyboard)

u guys should confirm stuff before u blindly post it, a simple search of wal mart's site would confirm it....i searched the wireless section of wallmart for any hint of the g2, blaze, nothing there..its clearly a fabrication, what someone thinks the specs are based off what they think itll hav, just to disapoint people.....besides i doubt walmart would hav any specs before the sites that get the phones to test before they come out, namely engadget...

Disappointing if these are the real specs. Nothing too special.

Sense is a deal-breaker for me. I will not purchase this phone and become a T-Mobile subscriber if the phone ships with Sense.

HTC will not release any phones under their own branding without Sense on it. The G1 was designed for Google and T-Mobile so came Vanilla, just like the Nexus One which was built by HTC for Google so came vanilla. On all the other phones they've put out have had Sense which is how they define themselves from competitors. As for the sliding mechanism, I'm really not a fan. I see this getting weak over time and then having a wobbly screen :(

Sense, really? Disappoints me.

Maybe its just me, but I actually PREFER Vanilla Android. Every iteration of Android I have owned was Vanilla up until now with the Mytouch SLIDE. I am not a huge fan of the customized UI and have been considering flashing the rom but I have no idea what to do (aside from what I have read in the tutorials.) In addition, I am worried about bricking the phone. Either way, I hope the G2 ships with Vanilla 2.2 or higher. But, it is T-Mobile after all and they love jacking sh*t up with their own customizations, etc.
