DROID 2 lands custom ROM

It may not be much, but it’s a start. Thanks to DroidLife forum user Matt4542, the Motorola DROID 2 now has a custom ROM Floating around the web. The ROM, titled Epic 1.1, is pretty basic. The highlights include removed bloat-ware, some added scripts, and build.prop mods. To install, the instructions are pretty simple:

To install need root and koush’s bootstrap app. You will need to make a FULL nandroid backup before doing this because if you **** your system you can restore. After that go into install zip and toggle the zip authentication check off(or whatever it is) because I wanted this release out so quick I didn’t sign the package. DO NOT INSTALL VIA ROM MANAGER!

Quite possibly the most interesting thing to come out of this is how quickly developers have found ways around Motorola’s security measures. At this point Moto needs to either get over it and embrace the community… or find something stronger than an efuse and a locked bootloader.

Update: The ROM is indeed for the DROID 2, not the DROID X. My apologies folks!
