HP Photosmart eStation printer home to Android tablet

Before jumping into the tablet pool with both feet via their forthcoming WebOS device scheduled for next year, HP is testing the waters with an Android tablet that amounts to a detachable interface for a printer/scanner that can spit out color pages at a rate of 2 per second and can scan at 1200 X 2400 dpi. The whole shebang will set you back $399, which is a decent tag for a strong tablet alone. However, the Android-based slab in the box won’t offer a full fledged tablet–or even complete Android–experience, but controlling a WiFi printer in the office via the detachable control panel in your living room certainly is a nice prospect. On top of that, HP has partnered with Barnes & Noble to make the tablet a more functional eReader.
