No Froyo for Eris? You don’t say.

Yesterday, in what should not come as a surprise to anyone, Verizon announced that the DROID Eris will not be seeing an update to Android version 2.2. “We have other options in Android devices, so this is part of the normal evolution of our portfolio,” said Verizon spokeswoman Brenda Raney. True words, but it doesn’t really soften the blow eh?

If you’re an Eris owner, just be glad you get to enjoy 2.1, it could be worse. Oh, and feel free to vent your frustrations into the comments below.

The sad thing is that most phones are coming out with skins on them. Luckily, Motoblur is starting to fade out. Now you just have to find a phone that doesn't have Samsung's TouchWiz and HTC's Sense. It seems like the T-Mobile G2 is your best bet.

At least the Eris and Hero made it to Eclair. My son's Cliq is stuck on Cupcake. CUPCAKE!!! It can't even do Google Nav.And since the Cliq is slated for EOL soon, it seems highly unlikely that Motorola will ever come through with the long-promised update.Never again will I buy a Moto phone. Never again will I buy a phone with a skin. Sorry, but I am giving only one opportunity to a company to burn me when it comes to consumer electronics over $200 in price.

I have the Eris, and just saying, FroyoEris V32. Works wonderful for me, Apps to SD is so wonderful for owners of this phone, and that really in itself is needed imo. But I do have a load of apps, so if you can easily fit yours on your Eris, maybe this isn't so horrible for you?

Where's the love for Eris and Hero owners? No Live Wallpapers. No FroYo. What's next? My stepfather has the Eris and I'm going to hate to see the look on his face when I tell him that he can't update to 2.2. Thanks for breaking his heart, Verizon.

I own a Hero (which probably won't get a froyo update) and I just rooted it and put CM6 on. I suggest you Eris owners do the same if you want froyo :S

My only frustration is that the Eris is such a crummy phone. As soon as I can, I'm getting rid of it.
