Samsung Epic 4G unboxing and hands on

In light of Samsung’s NYC presser and introduction of Media Hub, I thought this was a good time for me get back into the Galaxy S series and take the new Media Hub entertainment app/database/delivery system for a spin. But before I can do that, I need to get a feel for the phone I’m going to test it on, Sprint’s Epic 4G.

This is Sprint’s second 4G device (after the EVO) and their first WiMax device with a hardware keyboard. How does the Epic handle media? How does the device stand up next to Sprint’s other 4G phone, the HTC EVO 4G? Stay tuned to DroidDog to find out.

Also about that trick with the home, menu, back, and search staying lite as long as the screen you have to uncheck the box beside power saving mode in the keyboard timeout setting.

Anyone looking for the update to unlock media hub its at xda-developers.com and its called DI07, If you rooted you probably know what to do and you can use clockwork recovery to install it but if your still stock just change the file name to update.zip and put it on your sdcard then boot into recovery by first turning off your epic then press and hold the volume down, camera, and power button at the same time and select apply update.zip, to navigate in stock recovery I'm not to sure but if its like clockwork recovery then power button and the smiley face button scrolls up and down, H is used for selections, and to go back press the HOME button. Again you will updating from DG27 to DI07 hope this helps.

A little trick to keep the home, menu, back, and search buttons light as long as the screen just go into your settings-sound and display-and look for keyboard timeout, set it to same as the screen and it will stay light as long as you have the screen set for.

John, you do my favorite hardware reviews. Thanks.
